Tarsus
announces arrival of eMachine EL1700
5 August 2009
Tarsus Technologies has announced the arrival of Acer's eMachine EL1700
range of desktop PCs, aimed specifically at the price-conscious SME
and consumer sectors.
Shane Krog, Acer desktop product manager at Tarsus, says that the new
arrivals are aggressively priced so that they can meet the level of
local white-box desktops, but offer the additional peace-of-mind of
a comprehensive warranty that covers the entire system, as opposed to
the component-level warranty classically offered by local OEMs.“This
is an important differentiator,” he says, “since consumers and SMEs
can easily become confused when negotiating the minefield of different
warranty periods and terms applying to the various components making
up a white-box computer.
“With the comprehensive warranty bundled with the EL1700, customers
can count on every component within the system being covered for a period
of one year from its purchase date,” he adds.
“The EL1700 is designed with environmental consciousness in mind, featuring
a small form factor casing and an energy-saving power supply,” he continues.
“The 'green-friendly' focus of the range by no means suggests that these
computers are underpowered,” he clarifies.
“The EL1700 features Intel's price-performance champion Celeron Dual
Core processor, 1GB of DDR2 memory (with the ability for expansion to
4GB), a 160GB SATA hard disk and embedded NVidia 6150SE graphics processor,
5.1 Audio, a Gigabit LAN controller and DVD-RW optical drive,” he explains.
“Together, this component list contributes to a desktop PC that's perfectly
suited to both the general office and consumer computing environments,”
he says.
Krog says the EL1700 and its aggressive price point is ideal for today's
market.
“We believe this product line will do extremely well in the current
economic climate,” he concludes.
